Give to the CASPA Christmas Appeal and make a wish come true

For young people in care, separated from their biological families, the holidays can be difficult.

Child welfare and disability charity CASPA has launched a Christmas Appeal and is calling on the community to donate gifts for children in need.

Here’s what is on the wish list for some of the children.

Sarah, 16, has asked for makeup or skincare products so she can pamper herself, Alex, 15, would like a voucher to buy himself a new game, Liv, 14, would love some cake decorating items, and 11 year old Harry is hoping for a soccer ball.

CASPA chief executive Naarah Rodwell said Christmas could be a difficult time for children and families facing uncertain circumstances and urged people to donate.

“These gifts may seem small, but they mean the world to those who receive them,” Ms Rodwell said.

“We’re inviting everyone to be a part of something truly special. A gift or donation to our Christmas Appeal will light up a child’s Christmas and let them know they’re not alone. These kind efforts show them they are seen, loved, and remembered this festive season.”

Ms Rodwell said often it is the teenagers in care and vulnerable families who are overlooked when it comes to gift giving.

“While younger children often receive toys and games, older children have their own wishes and deserve to feel just as celebrated,” she said.

“Older children in care often carry responsibilities beyond their years. A thoughtful gift can be a moment of lightness and joy in their lives, showing them, they are not forgotten.
