Keeping young people in care engaged sometimes takes an outside-the-box approach. This kind of thinking and a grant from the Office of Regional Youth created a new CASPA program, Holidays 4 Hope.

With the aim to engage young people in care, change their attitudes to what they see as barriers in life and build their social skills and connection, our Education and training team selected 6 teenage girls on a 3-day adventure across the Gold Coast.

For some of these teens it was the first time they’d ever stayed in a hotel room and they thoroughly enjoyed making the most of the experience.

CASPA CEO, Naarah Rodwell joined the group one evening. “It was delightful to spend time with the girls, they’d gathered in the evening wearing special pajamas and doing each other’s hair, creating their own great experience – it can be life changing for these kids”, Ms Rodwell said.

From the success of this inaugural program, CASPA is now looking to expand with all boy, sibling and cultural Holidays 4 Hope.
