Sinon Cooney has over 17 years of experience in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector, beginning his journey with Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) in 2007 as a Remote Area Nurse. He has since taken on key leadership roles across primary healthcare, becoming CEO in 2019. Sinon holds a Master of Public Health, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and serves as a Director on the AMSANT Board and a representative on the NT Aboriginal Health Forum.
As CEO, Sinon has led KWHB to expand its impact through culturally safe, trauma-informed care and innovative initiatives such as Aboriginal health coaching and family support programs. His leadership is grounded in a commitment to placing Aboriginal voices at the centre of healthcare planning, ensuring community-driven, equitable health outcomes.
