Kate is an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience across Out-of-Home Care, NSW Health, community services, and the private sector. A University of Sydney graduate, she established the first Occupational Therapy role within the Child Protection Counselling Service at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. She has collaborated with the University of Sydney on research exploring sensory, somatic, and relational impacts of trauma and child abuse, and has presented her work nationally and internationally. Her practice continues to be grounded in evidence-based and best-practice approaches.
Kate has been employed as the Statewide Child Protection Trainer for the Education Centre Against Violence (NSW Health) and worked alongside DCJ as the Mental Health Clinician at Taronga Zoo. She has extensive experience in community-based roles supporting children, young people, and families, and is committed to culturally responsive practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Kate also brings comprehensive experience within the NDIS, providing direct therapy and completing functional, sensory, and developmental assessments. She is certified in the DIR/Floortime model, integrating play-based, relationship-centred support with a sensory processing framework to understand regulation, connection, and engagement. Across all settings, Kate prioritises emotional safety, relational trust, and strengths-based collaboration with every client.
