When there are concerns for a young person’s immediate safety, they need somewhere safe to stay, and quickly. It can happen at any time, and emergency carers need to be ready to take a placement at short notice, after hours and on the weekend. Emergency care can be for just one night, or may be extended up to a month. The limited time of this type of care makes it a great option if you want to support vulnerable young people and their families, but can’t commit to long-term placements.
