Family restoration care

What is family restoration care?

Family restoration care is when carers work collaboratively with CASPA and the young person’s family to support getting them home safely. During this process, carers provide a safe and secure home for a young person where they can be themselves without judgement.

This type of placement can be from a month up to two years. If returning home is no longer a safe option, long-term care solutions are explored. Many family restoration carers are also open to long-term placements, should a child be unable to return home, as the stability of a single placement is in the child’s best interests.

Fostering has been a profound lesson in duality. It has made me stronger and more resilient in ways I never imagined.

It forces you to let go of control, to focus on what truly matters. All the difficult moments...are eclipsed by the joy of watching her thrive, seeing her family succeed, and knowing she’s safe and happy.
