Casino mum overcomes obstacles with caspa family support services
A single mum in our Casino community has overcome some significant obstacles that have inhibited the quality of her daily life and also that of her two children.
Susan* is a single mum who has seen her family through some challenging times – among them, being displaced by the bushfires in Queensland and then again when Lismore was flooded twice in early 2022, leading Susan to experience PTSD and be easily triggered.
CASPA Services' Family Supports in Casino connected with Susan and helped her identify the barriers that were impacting her daily life and wellbeing.
Susan is very strong and determined but having no family local to support her and assist with her children, and experiencing PTSD left her feeling isolated and her family vulnerable.
Walking alongside Susan, CASPA’s Family Supports team helped Susan build new, trusting relationships and reduce her anxiety.
Wanting only to build a better life for her children who both live with a disability, Susan and her children are now facing a brighter future.
CASPA’s team are also assisting Susan apply for NDIS participation for her eldest child so they can access support services and further engage with and participate in the local community.
